Load Testing | Performance Testing
Providers I picked are web hosting providers I see often recommended to people for WordPress hosting (with the exception of Kickassd who was recommended to me by a PHP developer friend). The testing is meant to somewhat mimic real world use but with the end result of choking the server and seeing what it can handle. For example the random visits of between 1-3 seconds is maybe not all that real world as the average visit is most likely a bit longer depending on the site. I do quite a bit of freelance work as a systems admin and spend a lot of time talking with people about their hosting, and it is getting so old. I get e-mails, or Skypes, or text from people in a panic and all pissed off because their site is offline, slow, or their Web Host support taking forever etc. The first thing I ask these people is “How much do you pay for your hosting?”. 99% of them reply with a price that is close to the $5/month mark.
